Life is full of changes and milestones that we capture on paper and film. But our true candid selves exist not in these larger moments, but in the small, overlooked aspects of our daily lives. Habits, routines, quirks, and vices say more about who we are as individuals more than any single event ever could. But how on earth does one capture and learn from these things? Easy—with diagrams! Lots, and lots of crazy diagrams.
Over the past year, I have used my own life to illustrate how maps, charts, and diagrams can organize and illuminate the subtler details of our selves. The results have not always been pretty or flattering, and there are many things on this wall I wish you didn’t have to see. But pretty or not, these pieces reveal me to be who I am—a fully flawed, but highly relatable human being. Even more, I created an example by which others can reevaluate the means by which they record and examine their own lives.
