At Freedom's Door: Challenging Slavery in Maryland has been developed and produced by students from Maryland Institute College of Art and Morgan State University enrolled in MICA's Exhibition Development Seminar in collaboration, and with support and oversight, from the professional staff of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture, Maryland Historical Society, and the Maryland Institute College of Art.

at the Maryland Historical Society

In culmination of the groundbreaking “At Freedom’s Door” exhibition, the Maryland Historical Society and its partners will discuss the historical themes and contemporary vestiges of slavery and resistance. Noted historians, artists, and social scientists will bring their unique perspectives. Moderator: Hari Jones, Curator, African American Civil War Memorial Freedom Foundation 7 Museum. Audience participation encouraged.

Choral Performance
Sunday, October 28, 2p.m.
at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture

For the finale of the exhibition "At Freedom's Door: Challenging Slavery in Maryland," the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture and its partners will host a dynamic choral performance celebrating the triumphs of the Underground Railroad and resistance to slavery. Performing will be the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Morgan State University's choir, and City College High School's choir. They will perform traditional slave spirituals interspersed with readings about Harriet Tubman and her great accomplishments. Please join us for a celebration of this important exhibition with free admission and reception.
